The need
The MASS was born from the need of the Italian Railway Network to have a mobile means of security to use for timely intervention at any point on the national railway network. It was requested that the medium was able to reach areas inaccessible and operate even in situations of adverse weather conditions, in adapting its instrument panel to the various case studies of intervention and ensuring in every context an adequate support and information to the coordination centre.
The solution
I&SI has distinguished itself by its capacity for innovation, designing and creating one of the most advanced mobile systems available on the market today. The solution was engineered on the basis of the industrial vehicle Mercedes Unimog U500 which has unique characteristics and mechanical solutions. The vehicle was then fitted with a shelter with variable geometry, fixed on the rear floor of the Unimogwhich can be expanded on reaching the site of interest. On the inside of the shelter there are two operators and all the necessary equipment, including a system of mobile video surveillance powered by solar panels.
